12th Annual "Ding" Darling & Doc Ford's Tarpon Tournament

The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge is the location of the first recorded tarpon caught on rod and reel. To celebrate the historical moment and Southwest Florida’s history of fishing, the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society & Doc Ford’s began the “Ding” Darling & Doc Ford’s Tarpon Tournament. 

2024 Dates:

Thursday, May 9, 2024: Check-in & Captains’ Meeting 

Friday, May 10, 2024: Tournament Day & “Silver King” Awards Banquet

Registration:

100% of entry fees go back to the anglers in prizes. Max of 60 teams. $1,000/boat of 4 anglers. $150/additional angler. Max of 6 anglers per boat. 1st come, 1st paid basis to hold your spot. Only 1 angler per team needs to register. 

Sponsorships: 

With 100% of the entry fees going back into prizes for the participating anglers, the only way the charity (DDWS) raises support for conservation is through its sponsorships and other donations. 100% of the support raised from sponsors goes directly into the vital work at the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge, making a real difference. There will be a number of guaranteed slots for sponsors of certain levels. Sponsorships can be a combination of cash or in-kind.
